Fashion Week Rochester arrives on the runway

Henrietta, N.Y. — The latest styles hit the runway Thursday evening for the first day of Fashion Week Rochester.

Now in its 13th year, hundreds gathered at the Dome Arena for the first of the three night event.

Thursday’s show, Inspire, illustrated Rochester fashion’s edgy side. With a combination of urban and grit, models showcased some of Fashion Week Rochester’s most extreme designs.

Every year Fashion Week Rochester raises funds for The Center for Youth, an organization that raises awareness for youth homelessness, Crisis Nursery sites and anti-violence efforts.

“It’s just the perfect place to celebrate our city, its talents, its fashion,” said Elaine Spaull, executive director at The Center for Youth. “There’s nothing like the runway, the big runway, energy, music, food, drinks, and again, all to raise support for young people.”

There are still two more nights highlighting local and national designers, retailers and talent.

Friday’s show, Celebrate, showcasing Rochester’s cultural diversity and youth fashion.

Then on Saturday, FWR will look to bring the house down on the final night with Elevate, the most glamorous night of the series.
