The Academy of Motion Pictures Gala
The 2023 Academy of Motion Pictures Gala set to happen on Saturday in Los Angeles has been postponed. The gala would have included a red carpet and a fundraiser for the museum, honoring Meryl Streep, Michael B. Jordan and other actors.
“Out of respect for the devastating conflict and loss of life happening overseas, we have made the decision to postpone the Academy Museum gala this Saturday,” WWD reported part of a statement read from an Academy Museum spokesperson on Thursday.
Pnina Tornai’s Bridal Fashion Week Show
Earlier this month, the Israeli designer announced the cancelation of her latest bridal collection fashion show, set to be showcased in New York City. Tornai’s classic designs have frequently appeared on TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress.”
The designer posted a message to Instagram explaining her decision, writing, “I woke up this morning in New York to a real-life nightmare. I was sure I was caught in a bad dream and would soon wake up, but the reality is that my country and my people are under brutal attack.”
SoHo Commando Store Opening Event
Intimates brand Commando has announced the cancellation of its Soho Greene Street store-opening event.
“In light of the heartbreaking world events that continue to unfold, we have decided to cancel the SoHo Commando Store opening event on Thursday, 10/19,” the brand said in a statement, adding, “We are so appreciative of your support and understanding during this time.”
The Fashion Trust Arabia Awards
Initially set to take place on Oct. 25, the 2023 Fashion Trust Arabia Awards have been postponed, with a new date not yet revealed. The annual event, thrown by the nonprofit organization of the same name, amplifies and connects Arab designers across the world. Past attendees have included Amina Muaddi, Bella Hadid and Jourdan Dunn.
Chopard’s High Jewelry Event
Luxury jewelry brand Chopard postponed its plans for a high jewelry event later this month.
Chopard sent an email to guests informing them their high jewelry presentation scheduled for next week is canceled “due to the deeply saddening situation in the region.”
