As the summer comes to a halt, the chilly air rolls in to welcome the fall season and students are swapping their tank tops for jackets.
Dalbert Mesa, a junior business administration major, looks toward comfortable fashion during the fall season.
“In the summer I tend to lean towards bigger tops, and I wear a lot of shorts,” Mesa said. “I always lean towards comfort so sweatsuits in the colder months are a go-to.”
Mesa added that his go-to fall outfit consists of “a great set of denim, a baggy cropped hoodie, and some dad shoes.”
“I’ve had a recent obsession with track pants and a wide range of Asics,” Mesa said.
For some students, color schemes can be an important aspect of fashion. Mesa said he prefers more neutral colors in the fall.
“I always tend to stay towards neutral colors, black on black is usually my go-to,” Mesa said. “I also like wearing multiple shades of greys.”
He said he buys almost all his clothing pieces from small fashion brands on Instagram.
“GvGallery is one of my favorite brands,” Mesa said. “Vale is a brand out of New Jersey and is on the rise in Street West and they have a flagship store in New Jersey.”
Similar to Mesa, Amanda Arostegui, a senior visual and sound media major, said she chooses to wear neutral tones during the fall season.
“I can coordinate them all without having to think too much in the morning,” Arostegui said.
She added that she likes to accessorize her outfits with beanies, sunglasses, or even her headphones.

“I love a body suit and baggy pants with a statement jacket or sweater and some sneakers preferably a pair of dunks or [Jordan] 1’s,” Arostegui said.
Arostegui said she buys most of these outfits through online stores like Jaded London and Cotton On.
“They have super basic pieces that are essential,” she said.
Kwabena Amo-Nyarko Jr, a senior information technology management major, said he differentiates between fashion as a “broad term” and style as more of “experiences and interests.”
“It can define sewing, pattern making and craftsmanship,” Amo-Nyarko Jr. said. “Style, however, is when you accept your body and your movements and wear clothes that depict your personality despite what you see people wearing.”
Amo-Nyarko Jr. said he sticks to an all-black color scheme during the fall weather.
“I think about the construction and techniques used in the clothes I look at online and in-store,” Amo-Nyarko Jr. said. “Most clothes I have encountered with this level of detail are usually black, and I love the sleekness and obscurity it provides.”
He added that accessories for fashion can “range from add-ons to wearing clothes in a nonconventional manner.”
“I wear my clothes inside out at times to expose the stitching and add more detail to my outfit,” Amo-Nyarko Jr. said. “I also wear prescription glasses…so I tend to shop for unique frames.”
In terms of fashion advice, Amo-Nyarko said to “try on all your clothes and come up with your favorite styles.”
“Use this as a blueprint for when you start shopping more,” Amo-Nyarko said. “Every item you buy should pair well with certain pieces in your collection. Think about how you want to express yourself in the future.”
