JAY-Z Says Daughter Blue Ivy Now Asks for His Fashion Advice After Previously Questioning His Coolness

Blue Ivy has come around on her dad JAY-Z’s coolness factor.

In a multi-part interview with Gayle King for CBS Mornings, the superstar rapper revealed that despite some early resistance, his 11-year-old daughter has finally started coming around on her cool dad, even looking to him for style advice.

“She used to be frontin’ on me a little bit,” JAY-Z, 53, told King, 68, when asked if the pre-teen thinks he’s cool. “But [now] I catch her. I catch her in the corner, you know? Now she asks me, you know, if this is cool, if her sneakers [are cool].”

King then clarified, “She wants your advice?” to which the mogul (real name Sean Carter) responded, “Yeah, yeah, yeah.”

He also shared a little more about when Blue wasn’t quite so impressed with her famous father.

“There was a time where she was like, ‘Daaaaad’, “ he teased, doing an impression of Blue covering her face in embarrassment.

“I’m cool. I don’t know what you sayin’, ” JAY-Z recalled explaining to his daughter. “I’m cool! You got cool parents! At your house, your parents [are] cool.”

Blue is the eldest daughter of JAY-Z and his wife of 15 years, Beyoncé. The pair also share 6-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir.

And as well as following in her parents’ footsteps when it comes to fashion, Blue also appears to have inherited their love of performance, too.

She joined her mom on stage this year on multiple stops of her Renaissance World Tour — which wrapped up earlier this month — to dance during two of the superstar’s numbers, “My Power” and “Black Parade.”

Following her daughter’s first performance in Paris in May, the “Love On Top” singer shared how proud she was of Blue in a heartwarming Instagram post.

“My beautiful first born 🙏🏾 I’m so proud and thankful to be your mama,” the “Cuff It” singer captioned the post. “You bring us so much joy, my sweet angel.”

Beyoncé’s post also featured videos of Blue flawlessly executing dance moves alongside her backup dancers.

Blue received praise from her mom at the show, too. “Give it up for Blue,” Beyoncé, 41, told the crowd, before breaking into applause.

Beyoncé’s mother and Blue’s grandmother, Tina Knowles-Lawson also celebrated the appearance in a post shared on Instagram following the show.

“Last night I saw my beautiful grandbaby dance in front of almost 70 thousand people !” Knowles-Lawson, 69, captioned the May 27 video of Blue Ivy at the end of her performance.

“She killed it and was as cool as a cucumber! Blue Ivy Carter ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ No Fear❤️❤️,” she added.

More of Gayle King’s conversation with JAY-Z will air Friday on CBS Mornings.
