Meghan Markle has recently been seen without her dazzling engagement ring, with one expert suggesting there’s actually a very sentimental reason behind her decision.
The Duchess of Sussex was joined by her husband Prince Harry in New York City earlier this week as they attended the Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit. Meghan was pictured wearing a cream jumpsuit with flared trousers and an off-the-shoulder detail, but her engagement ring was nowhere to be seen.
Meghan was given the ring by Harry back in 2017. The Duke of Sussex designed it himself, using two small diamonds from his late mother Princess Diana’s jewellery collection. Royal jewellery expert Ben Roberts said Meghan’s decision not to wear the ring actually shows she is a “devoted mother”.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, he said: “Meghan’s missing engagement ring has sparked a lot of debate over recent months, but the real reason why she is sporting a far more conservative ring is testament to her hands-on approach as a philanthropist and, above all, a devoted mother. Meghan’s unwavering commitment to charitable causes became particularly apparent when one of the diamonds from her exquisite three-stone ring reportedly came loose during her philanthropic work.”
He explained: “Over the six years since Harry and Meghan’s engagement, the ring will have endured natural wear and tear which would require comprehensive restoration from highly specialised jewellers for a ring of such cultural and historical significance. This work would extend over several weeks, if not months.”
Ben, managing director of Clogau, said the ring will have a lot of sentimental value for Meghan as it’s something she will be able to pass down to her children. He told us: “Designed by Harry and the late Queen’s favourite jeweller, the sentimental ring boasts a stunning diamond from Botswana flanked by two smaller diamonds from Diana’s personal collection.

“The ring has an estimated value of £200,000, and is an item Meghan would not want to lose.” Ben added: “This restoration would also allow Meghan to update her ring with the trends, just as she did back in 2019 when she switched her band from a yellow gold to a finer micro-pavé band. I believe she will be wearing the sentimental engagement ring again by Christmas.”
Meghan was also seen without her engagement ring on during last month’s Invictus Games, causing fans to worry about its whereabouts. However, a source confirmed it was simply “being fixed”. Speaking to People magazine, the source said the three-stone diamond sparkler has been getting serviced after a placement came loose.
