NC A&T University fashion students show-off their work

The Greatest Homecoming on Earth kicks off! Fashion Design and Merchandising students previewed their designs ahead of tonight’s fashion show.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Greatest Homecoming on Earth kicks off!

Fashion Merchandising and Design students and alum gave a preview to their work that will be shown tonight at the 2023 Aggie Print Homecoming Fashion Show hosted by the Council of Presidents at the University.

This year’s fashion show’s theme is ‘Elements of the Earth’ and each of the students participating were given fire, water, or air.

The student’s had to design collections that represented their elements.

We caught up with fashion students Mya Harris, Yakira Chapman, Robert Hudson, and Marcus Battle.

Mya Harris

She’s a Junior fashion merchandising student at NC A&T making her mark as a self-entrepreneur and fashion designer. Harris launched new clothing pieces for her brand, R.A.T. by Mya Nicole this past fall. For this year’s Homecoming Fashion Show, Mya was given the element earth so she chose gravel to design her line by.

Yakira Chapman

She’s a third-year fashion merchandising and design student at NC A&T and recently scored big with her art. Chapman was selected to exhibit an original painting as part of the 2023 NBA All-Star x HBCU Student Art Showcase, a commissioned art show taking place during NBA All-Star Weekend in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Robert Hudson

NC A&T Alum is bringing his fashion back to campus. Hudson is co-owner of fashion line, Four Chambers, with student Marcus Bettle. When speaking about his legacy, Hudson says he wants, “People to be able to see themselves in my work. I want them to feel seen.” Hudson has continued his artistic journey at N.C. A&T, and is known among students for sketching and painting around campus. You can check out his Instagram, HERE.

Marcus Battle

NC A&T Fashion Merchandising and Design student currently. His element was Earth and his line was based off sustainability. Battle says all of his pieces in tonight’s show are sustainable and made from recycled materials. You can check out his Instagram, HERE.
